Create Skilltype Teams and Groups

Empower the learning of teams and groups in your organization by creating Teams in Skilltype that mirror your org chart.

In late February of 2022, Skilltype introduced a new feature available to Skilltype for Teams subscribers to manage the development of teams and groups, we call this feature Skilltype Teams. With Teams, heads of library departments, supervisors, and leaders of groups will be able to quickly see the skills and interests of their group, all in one place.

Skilltype Teams FAQ’s

  1. How can I get started creating Teams in Skilltype? 

    1. Organization Owners and Administrators can access Teams from the left sidebar menu of your Organization’s Profile after logging in to the Skilltype app, near Directory and Insights. 
    2. Click on Teams
    3. Click on the Create a Team blue button
    4. Create a Team Name, select a Team Manager, and add a Team Description
    5. Click Create Team
    6. From the "..." (three dots menu) Click on Add Team Members
    7. You can select Team Members from a list of your organization's members   
  2. Who can create a team?

    1. Organization Owners and Administrators can create a Team and designate a Team Manager.
  3. I don't see a "Teams" link in my sidebar menu, why?

    1. As a Team Manager or Team Member, you can access Teams from your Profile. You’ll see a link to Teams that you belong to on the left side below your Profile photo and location. 
    2. As an Organization Administrator or Organization Owner, you can access Teams from the left sidebar menu in your Organization Profile after logging in to the Skilltype app. You’ll see Teams between Directory and Insights.
  4. Can I add members to a Team? 

    1. Organization Owners, Administrators, and Team Managers can add members to a Team by selecting “Add Team Members” from the list of Teams. 
    2. Up to fifty (50) members can be added to a single Team. 
    3. Each organization can add up to fifty (50) teams. 
  5. Can I add Followers to a Team in my organization?

    1. At this time, followers who are not members of your Organization cannot be added to Teams.
  6. How do I view a Team that I am a member of?

    1. As a Team Manager or Team Member, you can access Teams from your Profile. You’ll see a link to Teams that you belong to on the left side below your Profile photo and location. 
  7. Is there any connection to Microsoft Teams?

    1. Teams in Skilltype are not related to the Microsoft Teams collaboration tool. If you’re interested in growing your skills in Microsoft Teams, Skilltype has a tag and resources for that.
